For years, members of the community of Craig County have met together in unity, at Huffman Memorial cemetery, behind Chestnut Grove church for a 7 a.m. sunrise service to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Amidst the singing of many birds, and the calmness of the atmosphere, everyone stood in awe and reverence. “What a beautiful place to start the Resurrection day,” one lady said. Another attendee said, “There’s something about the peace this service brings, that makes me come back every year.”
Cody Rader, the pastor of New Castle Christian Church, led the service in prayer and praise while Charles Stacy, pastor of Bethel and United Methodist Churches, gave a message of Hope. “We’ve attended for more years than I can count,” shared many attendees. Everyone was invited to the Methodist Church, where they were welcomed with a breakfast of pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit and much more!
