Daniel Hoyt McCartney, 63, of New Castle, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 25, 2018.
Danny was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church in New Castle where he enjoyed worshipping his Lord and Savior. He was always so gracious and kind to all that he came into contact with, and he truly loved people. His love for others was contagious, and he was always concerned with how those he knew and loved were doing.
He was preceded in death by his father Hoyt McCartney and his sister Juan McCartney as well as many other family members. Left to cherish wonderful memories of Danny’s kind sweet soul are his mother Shirley Hannah McCartney, his best friend Beulah Brown and her extended family Coffee and Bre; aunts Hannah Kaufman (Herb) and Linda Davis (Gary); special cousins and guardians Cindy Shelor (Steve), Zachary Shelor, Jonathan Shelor (Katie) and children Justin Davis (Holly) Taylor & Ashlyn. Numerous other cousins and countless friends and his furry friend Barney.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at Paitsel Funeral Home in New Castle, Virginia, with Pastor Charles Stacy officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service and one hour after. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Bethel United Methodist Church in memory of Danny McCartney.
