Craig County High School was recently awarded $200 by Shelor Motor Mile and their Growing the Future Community Partnership.
The school won the money thanks to some good shooting by a couple local fans at the Rockets’ high school basketball game against Eastern Montgomery on February 1. Jason Lucas and Zachary Peters both sunk three point baskets as part of the program’s “Baskets for Cash” competition. In the contest competitors shoot a three point shot, and if they make it they receive $50 and $100 is presented to the school.
Lucas then took a shot from half court and barely missed. If he had made it that would have been good for another $50 for Jason and an additional $500 for the school.
Since the inception of the Growing the Future program Shelor has raised over three million dollars for local schools.
