The U.S. Forest Service honored employees and partners for exemplary work, dedication and commitment in the Southern Region at the 2017 Regional Forester’s Honor Awards.
Deputy Regional Forester Frank Beum, along with Acting Deputy Regional Foresters Anna Briatico and John Crockett, presented the Eastern Divide Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests with the Ranger District of the Year Award.
“This award recognizes the success of the Eastern Divide Ranger District, a result of the work, energy and passion of many employees across the Forest,” said Joby Timm, George Washington and Jefferson National Forest Supervisor.
District Ranger Dan McKeague said, “It was a privilege to see employees recognized with this prestigious award as an acknowledgment of challenges they overcame this year and their extraordinary individual performances.”
The Ranger District of the Year Award exemplifies management excellence in the Southern Region. Great work is being done on each Ranger District; however, this award pays tribute to the one District whose overall achievement is clearly extraordinary.
Awards in 13 categories were presented to individuals and groups throughout the region, which includes 13 southern states and Puerto Rico. This year’s theme for the awards was “Building a Legacy, Commitment to Excellence.”
