We make every effort to support local authors. Our latest acquisition is Chasing the Powhatan Arrow by Michael Abraham of Blacksburg. It is a travelogue in economic geography following the route of the famed steam-powered train on the Norfolk and Western Railroad. He investigates the dramatic modern and historical impacts the train had on the communities it touched.
Storm Coming by Jack Lewis of Oriskany is a novel of the Civil War in Virginia and the formation of West Virginia. It is a story inspired by Jack’s research on his great-grandfather, Alexander J. Swaney, who served as a cavalryman from 1861-1864. Thanks to a generous donation, we have a new selection of large print books in our collection. They are marked in a unique color to locate on the shelves quickly.
Thank you to our donors for your quality books. Whenever we add books to the collection, we must remove an equal number of books to the book sale barn due to our limited space. Keep in mind that our collection is constantly changing and new items are becoming available for sale. We wish we could catalog all of your donations, but our tiny space is full! We will expand our collection when we get a larger space, and with your support, that will become a reality.
For now, we invite you to come and check out the new books, try out the large print variety, or take something home from the book sale barn!
