After losing game one of the ODAC Tournament, McGuire guided the Maroons to four straight wins to capture the program’s first ever conference championship. Roanoke then won the NCAA South Regional Championship and advanced to the College World Series for the first time ever.
With two more wins in Wisconsin, the Maroons capped the year as one of the final four teams remaining in action in late May, and wrapped up the year with a program record 35 wins. The historic season ranks third in conference history in single season wins and Roanoke finished the year ranked No. 3 in the D3baseball.com national rankings.
Guida adds the all-state recognition to his ABCA All-Region honor. Guida’s 79 hits was sixth best in Division III and tops in the ODAC. His 58 runs were seventh most in DIII and most in the ODAC, while his 10 triples ranked second in DIII. Guida was the ODAC Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player and was named to the NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team.
