Dear Editor
Virginia has been subjected to four years of failed liberal policies. The Commonwealth used to be ranked among the top two states for business every year from 2006 through 2013, even securing the status of Best State for Business several times. We’re now struggling to hold on to the 6th best state for business position and have fallen to the 29th best for business costs.
In the upcoming Republican primary, I will be supporting Ed Gillespie for Governor, and Bryce Reeves for Lieutenant Governor. Both candidates have their priorities straight, have never supported tax increases, and have strong conservative values that many of us share.
Ed Gillespie is the son of an Irish immigrant who spent his early years working in his family’s grocery store, the JC Market. He began his political career as a parking lot attendant for the U.S. Senate, eventually working his way to becoming Counselor to President George W. Bush. Ed’s expertise was utilized as a lead author of Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America.
Senator Bryce Reeves served honorably as an Airborne Ranger in the U.S. Army. In a continuation of his service, Bryce served as Vice-Narcotics Detective for Prince William County. He and his wife, Anne, also own a couple of small businesses. Since 2011, Bryce has become known in the Virginia Senate for his pro-business stances, and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce has recognized him annually. Bryce was also presented with the Defender of Freedom Award from the NRA, and the VCDL has consistently rated him with a 99.5 percent average.
These are winning candidates. They each have demonstrated campaign prowess, and I’m confident they can win in November. We do not have to sacrifice our principles for electability, and political correctness has a losing track record. Please consider voting for Ed Gillespie and Bryce Reeves on June 13!
