The Craig County football team received special recognition from the WSLS Channe10 sports department when sports director Eric Johnson(left) made a trip to New Castle. Rocket football coach Jimmy Fisher(center) was named WSLS Coach of the Year for the 2025 season. Fisher accepted the award on behalf of the entire Rocket football staff, also praising the school and community for their support of the program. Also, Craig County sophomore Clayton Cassell(right), a linebacker and kicker, was the recipient of a special honor. Channel 10 has initiated an annual award for dedication to the game while overcoming obstacles, and the award was presented to and named after Clayton. Every year going forward the sports crew will choose a recipient of the “Clayton Cassell Perseverance Award.”
