The Craig County School Board approved the 2026-27 school year calendar during its regular monthly meeting Jan. 20.

The approved calendar outlines a 180-day instructional year, divided into two semesters. The first semester will consist of 87 instructional days, with the second semester totaling 93 days. The school year will start on Aug. 12 and conclude with graduation scheduled for May 28, 2027.

The calendar includes designated two-hour early dismissal days on Oct. 14, 2026, and March 11, 2027.

Quarter grading periods and report card schedules are also outlined. The first quarter midterm falls on Sept. 11, with the quarter ending Oct. 14 and report cards issued Oct. 21. The second quarter midterm is Nov. 17, with the quarter ending Dec. 18 and report cards distributed Jan. 8, 2027.

For the second semester, the third quarter midterm is scheduled for Feb. 8, with the quarter ending March 11 and report cards issued March 18. The fourth quarter midterm will be April 20, with the school year ending May 26 and final report cards issued May 28.

The calendar also details procedures for inclement weather or other school closures. The first 10 missed instructional days will be made up using banked instructional time. If additional makeup days are required, April 23 and May 27-28 are designated as potential makeup days.

School officials noted that the calendar is subject to change if necessary, as the school board reserves the right to amend the schedule.
