Dear Editor:
At this special time of year when we celebrate and give thanks for so many blessings, I write to express my gratitude to some very Good Samaritans of Craig County.
On a rainy Tuesday afternoon before Thanksgiving, the mini-van I was driving on Rt. 42 near Big Mountain Road developed a flat tire. This was very unexpected since the vehicle had just got new tires in early September.
To my rescue came Mr. Monty Bostic and Mr. Aaron Kaffen, who valiantly attempted to remove the spare tire under the vehicle to no avail, since it hadn’t budged in the 21 years it was stored there. Also to the rescue, came Mr. Joel Johnston who was driving by, and he suggested working with the flat tire. He drove back home to bring a portable air tank while Mr. Bostic and Mr. Kaffen removed the flat tire. Arriving back with the air tank, Mr. Johnston inflated the flat tire, only for it to lose air due to a bad valve stem. He then took the tire and drove down the mountain into town to M & K Auto Specialist to get a new valve stem installed, which Mr. Mike Tickle kindly did at no charge! Mr. Johnston returned in quick time to put the tire with its new valve stem back on the vehicle, and I was on my way.
Again, my sincere appreciation to all of these gentlemen for taking the time and trouble to help out a lady in distress.
