The Craig County School Board voted July 21 to approve bonus compensation for returning employees for the 2025–26 school year, using state funding tied to Standards of Quality (SOQ) support.
Under the approved motion, all returning full-time contractual employees will receive a $500 bonus. Returning part-time car drivers will receive a $250 bonus.
The motion to approve the bonuses was made by board member Darren Gilreath and seconded by Faye Powers. It passed unanimously.
The bonus funding is connected to SOQ allocations from the state. Board members clarified that the bonus applies specifically to employees returning for the 2025–26 academic year and confirmed that part-time car drivers are included in the allocation.
Board members present for the vote included Chair Trace Bellassai (Craig City District), Vice Chair Darren Gilreath (Simmonsville District), Faye Powers (Potts Mountain District), Heather Matheney (Craig Creek District), and Walter Marsden (New Castle District).
