Craig County’s new mural was celebrated Saturday morning at the Farmers Market while a great time was had by all. Music and sound provided by Dave’s Live Sound provided the backdrop for a sunny morning and lots of activity in New Castle.
The official ceremony was led by the mural committee chair, Tina Crawford, and remarks were shared by muralist Jon Murrill and Craig Board of Supervisors Chair Jesse Spence.
Over 20 of the painter-volunteers were present for a group photo with Murrill. They included families, school students and barn quilt painters.
The highlight of the morning was the announcement of the names of the mural “critters,” chosen from votes taken at July 4th festivities at the Farmers Market.
Our deer is now Ginger, the great eagle is Freedom, the cardinal is Scarlett and the bear-friend is Beartholomew.
