Jean S. Huffman was born October 22,1931 and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior May 12, 2024. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 74 years, Lloyd J “Bodie” Huffman, and parents Roy Harrison Sutphin, and Olya Lester Sutphin, brother Lester Insley Sutphin (Kathleen Adams Sutphin), sister Arleen Sutphin Paitsel (James Paitsel) and brother-in-law Buddy Bishop and infant great-granddaughter Charlotte Huffman.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Lloyd “Sonny” Huffman {Debbie Price Huffman} and Frank Harrison Huffman {Susan Taylor Huffman}; Grandchildren, Jessica Huffman Breeden {David}, Cole Huffman {Whitney}, Harrison Huffman Landon Huffman and Josephine Huffman; Great-grandchildren, Jack Breeden, Zoe Breeden, Bode Huffman and Drew Huffman; also her dear sister, Carolyn S. Bishop and special brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Roberta Davis, and her lifelong friend, Betty Ring; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Jean was born in Auburn, Montgomery County, Virginia. She moved to Craig County from Eagle Rock at an early age and graduated from New Castle High School. She met the love of her life at age 14 and was married at age 18 {Dec 1, 1949}. She spent her life on the farm at Craigs Creek raising her family, attending Mountain View Christian Church and later New Castle Christian Church, and worked at Catawba Hospital for many years.
Jean lived a full life and enjoyed each season—raising her family and watching it grow, serving her church and community and traveling near and far. Her life reflected a devout faith in Jesus Christ, and she served in many capacities—years in the church choir, church secretary, VBS worker, and delivered many delicious meals.
Jean, Momma, or Momma Jean will be sorely missed, but we rejoice in knowing that she is reunited with her Bodie and they are in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
The family would like to thank the devoted and loving staff of Warm Hearth-Kroontje Health Center and the nurses of Medi-Hospice for their exemplary care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Blue Ridge Christian Camp, PO Box 428, McCoy, VA 24111
