The Craig County baseball and softball seasons opened with games at Glenvar Monday in the first action of the VHSL spring season. Both Glenvar teams came out victorious against the Rockets.
In softball Craig scored first when Lily Hutchison reached base and scored in the top of the first. However, after that it was all Glenvar as the Highlanders took a 13-1 win. Kammie Fisher got the opening day start on the mound for Craig.
In baseball Glenvar took a 10-0 win. Hayden Reynolds got the start and pitched well despite taking the loss.
Both teams will have a rematch with Glenvar in New Castle next Monday, March 18. Game time is 5 pm and the Rocket soccer team also has a game that day as they open the season with a 6 pm start at Buffalo Gap.
