Herman Ray Wolfe, 76 of New Castle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 19. After retiring from the City of Salem, Herman could be found in his recliner with his fur babies close by. He was a loving husband to his wife, Hazel for 53 years, and father to four sons – Ray, Henry, Timmy and Jason.
Anyone who knew Herman knew him for the many years that he spent playing men’s slow pitch softball. He enjoyed watching sports and when he wasn’t watching a game, he was often found in the backyard leading a baseball game with anyone who would play. Herman also enjoyed riding the backroads with Hazel and Little Henry looking at the deer and wild game.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ruth Fridley Wolfe; father and mother-in-law, William (Bill) and Elsie Woods; siblings, Donald, Jay, Kenny (Bubby), Lionel, Homer, Beulah (Sue), Nellie, Bobbie, Elizabeth, Laura, Pluma and Linda; sister-in-law, Louise.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Hazel; sons, William (Dorothy), Henry (Roxie), Timmy (Missy), and Jason; grandchildren, Dwayne Wyrick, Little Henry, Terry, Andrew, Caper, Kenny, and Paige; brothers, Malcolm (Shorty), Alvin (PeeWee); sisters, Lena (Leon) Woods and Ida Lou; great-grandchildren Briantely, Dixie and Kayla; sister-in-law, Janice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Herman’s Life was held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, at Paitsel Funeral Home with Pastor Loraine Taylor officiating.
