With the increase in house fires and the need for a tanker, the Johns Creek Fire Department is working diligently to raise funds to make sure they have everything they need to respond with adequate equipment for their community.
Because of this, they are hosting another yard sale on Saturday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. across from the John’s Creek Fire Dept at the pavilion of The Forks of Johns Creek Church.
“There will be plenty of stuff for sale,” Fire Chief Jonathan Huffman noted. “We are also opening the event to anyone who wishes to sell their personal items as well.” The cost is only $10 per space.
If one wishes to donate any items, they may do so by contacting Jerry Russo at (540) 864-5947 or sending an email to [email protected]. The physical address of the Fire Department is 116 Dick’s Creek Road in New Castle.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks and other snacks will be served.
“We know that this is an ambitious goal, but we are truly trying to reach a goal of $400,000,” Huffman said. “We are trying every means available.”
Jonathan also noted that they have applied for several grants, but as of yet have all been denied.
The tanker is something that is an essential need for the Fire Department. Huffman explained that they may be able to find a relatively good used one and will continue searching.
The Fire Department staff and friends have worked on this project for three years and are hoping they can raise some major funds soon.
“If anyone has questions, just give us a call,” Huffman said. “We appreciate all donations and hope that this one will help us get much closer to our goal.”
