Three members of the Craig County High School track team have qualified for the state meet, Lynsey Taylor, Autumn Huffman and Ben Deplazes.
Auburn High School hosted the meet last Saturday and the host Eagles won both the boys’ and girls’ team titles. The Craig County girls were eighth and the boys were seventh.
Two Craig County girls qualified for the state meet, scheduled for this weekend at East Rockingham High School. Autumn Huffman won both the shot put and the discus at Auburn, including a 38’1” shot put that was three feet better than her previous best. She won the discus with a toss of 116’4”.
Also qualifying for the state was Lynsey Taylor, who took second in the 3,200 meters with a season’s best time of 12:56.21. She was fourth in the 1,600.
In the boys’ events Ben Deplazes won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 18.93. He was third in the 300 Hurdles, qualifying for state in that event as well, and sixth in the 200 meters. Dalton Frango was sixth in the 400 to score points for the Rockets.
