Four Craig County athletes won their events when the Pioneer District track meet was held at Covington High School on Saturday.
Senior Autumn Huffman won the shot put and also placed second in the discus. Lynsey Taylor was first in the 3,200 meter run and second in the 1,600, and Brianna Charlton won the 100 meters and took second in the 200 meters.
The girls finished third among six teams. Parry McCluer won the girls’ team title.
In the boys’ meet the Rockets were fifth as Covington took the team championship. Ben Deplazes won two events for the Rockets, finishing first in both the 110 High Hurdles and the 300 Intermediate Hurdles.
The region meet will be held this Saturday at Auburn High School and eight Rockets qualified, including seniors Huffman, Taylor, Charlton and Dalton Frango, juniors Ben Deplazes and Alexis Andrews and freshmen Claire Deplazes and Logan Kitler.
at 7 pm following a 5:30 pm third place game.
