Maxie Donald Doss, 83, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.
He was predeceased by his parents, Julian Sidney and Lillian McClanahan Doss; and brother, Julian S. “Buddy” Doss Jr. He is survived by brother Coleman O. Doss (Toni), nieces Lauren D. Poma and Erin Sydney Doss as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Maxie was born on November 1, 2934, in Craig County and graduated from New Castle High School in 1952. He went on to attend Virginia Tech. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He had various employers including Newport News Shipbuilding, Norfolk & Western Railway and the U.S. Postal Service from which he retired.
Private arrangements were handled by Simpson Funeral Home in Roanoke. Donations and memorials may be made to New Castle United Methodist Church or Crossroads Christian Church, also in New Castle.
