The Craig County track team participated in middle school and varsity meets last week, with the middle school harriers running in an invitational in Radford and the varsity team competing in the Blacksburg Invitational on Saturday.
In the middle school meet Randalyn Taylor had a personal best in the triple jump at 21’ 3”. Summer Huffman placed fifth in the shot at 21’ 7.5” and fourth in the discus at 58’ 1.25”, both personal bests. Connor Maguire had a personal best in the 800 meters at 2:58.10.
In the varsity meet Autumn Huffman had a PR in the shot for 4th place (34-04.50) and also had a personal record in the discus for 4th place (115-10.00), both school records for Craig. Autumn is qualified for states in both events.
Alexis Andrews ran a PR in the1600m with 6:52.06. Lynsey Taylor qualified for states in the 3200m (13:17.35) and was one second off state qualifying for the 1600m (5:57.64). Claire Deplazes got PRs in the long and triple jumps, increasing her long by about a foot to 12-07.50, and her triple by over two feet to 26-07.00.
For the boys, Logan Kitler had a PR(personal record) in the 800m at 2:48.86 while Ben Deplazes got PRs in the 100m, 110m hurdles, and 200m with scores of 12:32, 19.53, 24.69. Dalton Frango ran a PR in the 800m with 2:27.48
The Rockets will run in the Cosmopolitan Club meet at William Fleming High School in Roanoke this Friday and Saturday.
