Hannah Green led the Highlanders with 16 kills and Kiera Omberg had 14. Allison Clark had a game high 30 assists as Glenvar improved to 6-4 on the season.
Last week wasn’t as kind to the Highlanders, who lost on back-to-back days to Three Rivers District rivals Carroll County and James River. The Carroll County match was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday because of the weather and Glenvar lost in four sets, 25-19, 25-23, 22-25 and 25-12.
“We played okay until the wheels fell off in the fourth set,” said Conner. “I was proud of what we did in the first three sets against a good team.”
Katherine Ward had six aces and 12 assists against the Cavaliers. Omberg had 12 kills, Green had eight and Sydney McMahon had five kills.
A night later, in Buchanan, the Highlanders had a bad night against James River, losing in three. The Knights won 25-16, 25-17 and 25-22. Glenvar let an eight point lead get away in the third set.
“It was a bad night all around,” said Conner. “Our big hitters had a lot of errors.”
Glenvar will be back home tonight to play host to Floyd County in a Three Rivers match. Next Monday they host Blacksburg, followed by a Tuesday home match with Giles.
