The girls are currently 10-3 after beating E.C. Glass and Patrick Henry in the past week. Last Thursday in Lynchburg the Spartans took a 16-2 win as Lilly Blair scored five goals and Libby Bowman had three.
On Monday in Roanoke the girls kept up the pace by beating Patrick Henry, 17-2, a Merrill Gainer Stadium. Blair and Bowman had five goals each in this one and combined for three assists. Madi Caldwell had three goals, Abbey Greer had two and Alla Daniel and Kara Yates had one goal each.
“Between Lilly, Alla, and Abbey, we controlled 10 of 17 draw controls, which allowed us to score off numerous fast breaks from the substitution box via Libby Bowman. Everyone saw the field and we were able to work on our plays, which is now more important than ever since the playoffs begin end of next week.”
The boys fell to 8-4 with a 17-7 loss to Glass last week. Evan McMillan led Salem with three goals and an assist.
“It was a tough game against a really good opponent,” said Salem coach Daniel Dyer. “Glass made some excellent plays and we could not capitalize when we had the chance. We have to be better from here on out. We have been working hard in practice to get back on track.”
The boys are back in action tonight with a game at Franklin County.
