The Craig County baseball team had a rough trip to Bath County last Friday as the Rockets lost two baseball games to the host Chargers. Bath took 7-0 and 5-4 wins over Craig.
In the first game the Chargers scored six of their seven runs in the fourth inning as Craig’s fielding let down. Other than that Dakota Henderson and Jake Robertson had a pretty good day on the mound, with Henderson fanning five.
In the second game it was one bad inning again as Bath scored five times in the third inning of a 5-4 game. Craig, who was the designated home team in this game, answered with four in the bottom of the third but that proved to be one run short.
Brandon Swingle got things going for Craig in the bottom of the third. Devin Hutchison, Dalton McPherson and Robertson all had hits in the rally as the Rockets kept it close. However, Craig couldn’t draw even and the Chargers came away with the sweep.
