Mayor Michael Barber (far left) cut the ribbon Friday to Christiansburg’s newest convention space on Peppers Ferry Road.

The area has a new conference space after New River Valley Home Improvement saw a need for offices, and an opportunity they could not resist.

The new facility has been labeled the Lion Room Conference Center. Nine months ago NRV Home Improvement bought the building, which used to be home to several apartment and did a complete renovation.

“We saw this building two years ago and tried to buy it then, but the previous owner would not sell it. Then we approached them again last year and we were able to move on the property,” Blankenship said.

The company took a dirt basement and turned it into four office suites. Upstairs, the built four offices for themselves and expanded an 1,800 sq. ft. conference room.

Total, the building has approximately 3,000 sq. ft. downstairs and another 3,500 upstairs.

Christiansburg Mayor Michael Barber cut the ribbon Friday to open the facility and said NRV Improvement did two things.

“They took a debilitated building that was falling down and made it into something that the community can use. It helps to meet a need in the community, and the conference facility is great for residences in this end of town,” he said.

The conference room is available for birthday parties, small weddings and corporate and business meetings.
