Ayers has been an Atlantic Coast Conference basketball official since 1998. Last year he was an official in the Final Four games in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, and in 2012 he was an alternate official at the Final Four games.
Ayers was ranked as one of the nations’ top officials last season. He hopes to continue officiating into his mid 60s.
