Last Friday at home the Highlanders lost to James River, 11-1, on a brutally cold day. The visiting Knights banged out 15 hits and got a solid pitching performance from Olivia Simmons in less than desirable conditions.
Kaley Williams singled in a run in the fourth for Glenvar when the Knights worked out of a bases loaded, no outs, jam. Emily Teaford had a fifth inning double and McKenna Jarvis had a sixth inning single for the Highlanders in the loss.
On Monday Glenvar took an 8-5 win at Staunton River. Abby Schoonover pitched the first six and a third innings and got the win with relief help from Teaford, who got two ground outs with runners on base to pick up a save.
McKenzie Pulliam had three hits for Glenvar and Williams and Olivia Adams had two each. Pulliam drove in two runs.
On Tuesday at Radford Schoonover went the distance to pick up her second win in as many days as Glenvar took an 11-3 win over the Bobcats. Abby also had two hits, as did Williams, Teaford and Katherine Ward. Williams and Ward drove in two runs each and Teaford scored twice.
Now 6-4, the Highlanders are off until April 25 as they get some time off for spring break.
