TROUTVILLE – Work to run fiber optics will briefly impact traffic on the evening of July 9 and early morning of July 10 at Interstate 81’s exit 150 (Troutville) in Botetourt County, according to an announcement by the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Exit 150A and 150B ramps will be closed for approximately one hour beginning at 11:59 p.m. on July 9 until 1 a.m. on July 10 to string cables across traffic lanes at two separate locations. State Police will be controlling traffic during the short closure.
The fiber optics are being performed by a utility company in advance of an upcoming construction project to improve traffic flow around exit 150.
Message boards and signs will be in place to alert drivers to the short-term closure. Traffic can access the area at exit 150 using Route 11 from exit 146 and 156 on I-81 or plan their travel accordingly. Work will be completed by 1 a.m.
